Work in Home Care this Summer - An Independent and Meaningful Assignment

Lerum Municipality is known for its scenic locations with lakes and forests. The municipality has 3,200 employees and 43,000 residents but expects to grow significantly in the coming years. Lerum is only a 20-minute commute from Gothenburg and is currently facing a development-intensive period with many exciting projects underway, ranging from schools to housing. The municipality works to ensure good service, high welfare, and a thriving business climate.

Recently, Dagens Samhälle named Lerum the winner in the category of large urban municipalities (2025) - an award based on a comprehensive comparison of 290 Swedish municipalities in areas such as education, healthcare, economy, culture and leisure, attractiveness, business, and future factors like digitalization and civil preparedness. We are now a Super Municipality!

We are now looking for summer substitutes for home care in Lerum, Gråbo, and Floda. You will work during the period of weeks 26–33. To receive a work schedule, you must be available to work at least four consecutive weeks during this period, but you can preferably work the entire summer. The minimum employment rate will be 75%, but there is also the possibility to work 100%.

Working Hours

Shifts are scheduled for days and evenings, weekdays and weekends. The earliest a shift can start is at 7:00 AM and the latest it can end is at 10:00 PM.

For those with previous work experience in support and care, there is an opportunity to work awake nights in our Night Patrol.

Introduction

Before your first shift, you will be introduced by a supervisor at the workplace, where you will learn about tasks, routines, and the needs of the users. You will also complete online training. If medication management is included in your tasks, you will need to complete training in medication delegation.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

You will always start from what the user needs and contribute to their well-being and provide a valuable and secure everyday life. Examples of common tasks include:

  • providing support in everyday situations, such as taking walks
  • assisting with showering and toilet visits
  • cleaning and laundry
  • distributing medication
  • healthcare tasks according to instructions and delegation from a nurse
  • documentation in administrative systems

About the Operation

In home care, you support care recipients according to their needs at home. In your work, you will drive the home care's cars or cycle. You perform practical care work independently but have regular contact with colleagues and coordinators. Sometimes you work in pairs.

In the home care service unit, you only perform service tasks, such as shopping, cleaning, and social activities like walks.

For those with previous experience in Support and Care, there is an opportunity to work in our Night Patrol where you perform planned care interventions but also respond to security alarms.

QUALIFICATIONS

Who are you?

You enjoy meeting people, easily create contact, and have a genuine interest in each individual you meet. With your empathetic ability and respect for privacy, you contribute to a secure and meaningful everyday life for our care recipients. You provide good service, collaborate well with others, and take responsibility for driving the work forward.

We place great emphasis on personal suitability. Education or experience in healthcare and care is an advantage. The work involves documentation and communication with care recipients, colleagues, and other partners, so you need to feel comfortable with the Swedish language both in speech and writing.

Driver's License

A B driver's license is an advantage in the job, but we also welcome applicants without a driver's license as there are a few positions where driving is not included.
